RESUMO No presente trabalho, apresenta-se o Grupo de Informação e Documentação Jurídica de Santa Catarina (GIDJ/SC). Caracterizam-se as bibliotecas do GIDJ/SC como bibliotecas especializadas em informação jurídica. Questiona-se sobre as condições das bibliotecas e as instituições nas quais estão inseridas, para o atendimento de pessoas com mobilidade reduzida, as barreiras que dificultam o atendimento e as adaptações das bibliotecas para atender todo tipo de público inclusive pessoas com deficiência ou com mobilidade reduzida. Mostra-se um pouco da história das pessoas com deficiência. Retrata-se deficiência, mobilidade reduzida, acessibilidade, desenho universal e bibliotecas especializadas. Expõem-se normas e legislação relacionadas. Exibe-se a entrevista e a observação como metodologia para coleta de dados. Comparam-se leis e normas para receber pessoas com mobilidade reduzida, com a realidade encontrada nas instituições e suas bibliotecas. Conclui-se que as barreiras encontradas são muitas, e que com as adaptações já realizadas nas bibliotecas, estas podem receber pessoas com mobilidade reduzida, mas não com a autonomia que essas pessoas merecem e precisam. ABSTRACT In this work the Group of Juridical Information and Documentation of Santa Catarina (GIDJ/SC) is presented. The libraries from the DIDJ-SC are characterized as specialized in juridical information. The condition of the libraries and the institutions in which they are inserted is questioned in regard to the treatment of people with reduced mobility, the barriers that make the treatment difficult and the adaptations of libraries to treat every kind of public, including people with disabilities or with reduced mobility. This work shows some aspects of the history of people with disability. It also portrays disability, reduced mobility, accessibility, universal design and specialized libraries. Norms and legislation related to the subject are exposed. The interview and the observation are the methodology of data collection chosen. The laws and norms that regulate the treatment of people with reduced mobility are compared with the reality at the institutions and their libraries. It concludes that the barriers found are many, and that with the adaptations that have already been done at the libraries, they can welcome people with reduced mobility, but they don’t get the autonomy they deserve and need.
