Tradução comentada de La carte d'identite (1980) de Jean-Marie Adiaffi: reflexões sobre o cânone, a obra e seu processo tradutório

Abstract

Esta tese tem como objetivo principal realizar uma tradução inédita para o português brasileiro do romance La carte d identité do escritor marfinense Jean-Marie Adiaffi, publicado em 1980. Buscou-se, como objetivo secundário, contemplar e comentar os elementos e aspectos socioculturais da língua e cultura Anhi encontrados na obra. Foi necessário localizar ambos, a obra e o autor, na geografia literária da Costa do Marfim com o intuito de compreender sua agenda e a escrita, dela, decorrente. O trabalho se fundamentou em uma abordagem etnográfica da tradução na perspectiva de preservar as marcas culturais marfinenses, enquanto matérias substanciais do projeto adiaffiano. Partindo dessa discussão, concluiu-se que o n zassa, estilo do autor, como método de tradução, era aplicável ao nosso corpus. Ademais, observou-se que a maioria das práticas tradutórias é ou se assemelha, em algum grau, a n zassas coletivos, onde o tradutor responsável pela tradução desempenha também o papel de coordenador/organizador. Em se tratar do código onomástico e dos provérbios, os trabalhos de Agyekum Kofi (2000) por um lado, e de Mona Baker (1992) e Beekman e Callow (1974), por outro, foram respectivamente de uma grande contribuição. Depreendeu-se que os nomes próprios devem ser mantidos e seguidos por imperiosas explicações em glosas. Quando dos provérbios, além das três estratégias recorrentes na literatura, a saber, 1) inclusão do significado logo depois do provérbio (Prov); 2) Substituição do Prov por um Prov equivalente nas língua e cultura alvo; 3) Direta formulação do sentido não figurativo; foi sugerida uma quarta que consiste, 4) na criação de um provérbio novo com paralelismos (rimas internas e externas) próprios e com igual caráter de verdade universal.

Abstract : This thesis aims, principally, at carrying out an unprecedented translation to the Brazilian Portuguese of the novel La carte d identité published in 1980 by the Ivorian writer Jean-Marie Adiaffi. As a second goal, we set to pinpoint, examine and comment the socio-cultural elements and aspects of the Anyi language and culture found in the book. It was then necessary to localizing both the author and the book in the literary geography of Côte d Ivoire to fathom his agenda and the style it produced. In such view, the research went on using an ethnographic approach to the translation with the perspective of preserving the Ivorian cultural marks, for they are substantial a material in Adiaffi s project. Based on that debate, we concluded that the n zassa, Adiaffi s style, as a translation method, is applicable to our corpus. Furthermore, we could observe that most translations practices are or resemble, to a certain extent, collective n zassas during which the individual in charge of the translation, also plays a role of coordinator/organizer. Regarding the onomastic code and proverbs, Agyekum Kofi s (2000) work on the one side, and Mona Baker (1992), and Beekman and Callow s (1974), on the other side, have respectively been of great contribution to the debate. We deduced that proper names be kept intact and accompanied by compulsory in-glose explanations. As for the proverbs, beyond the three recurrent approaches found in the literature, that is: 1) the inclusion of the meaning after the proverb (Prov.), 2) the substitution of the Prov. by an equivalent in the target language and culture, 3) the direct formulation of the non-figurative meaning; we suggest a forth one that consists of, 4) the creation of a new proverb with its own parallelisms (internal and external rhymes) and with the same state of general truth.
