Tradução de poesia escrita em libras para a língua portuguesa

Abstract

Esta pesquisa visa investigar e discutir a tradução da poesia em Libras na modalidade escrita para a língua portuguesa também escrita, fazendo a caracterização desse gênero e refletindo sobre as possíveis estratégias para a sua tradução. A poesia em Libras tem uma característica altamente visual e é veiculada em maior parte em formato de vídeo (SUTTON-SPENCE, 2005). Com o desenvolvimento dos estudos das línguas de sinais, alguns sistemas de escrita para essas línguas foram idealizados. Dentre os sistemas disponíveis, o mais utilizado no Brasil é o Sig- nWriting (SW), que tem sido utilizado para o registro de obras literárias em línguas de sinais (SUTTON, 2005). Nos últimos anos, notou-se a publicação de poemas em Libras escrita por meio do SW. Admitindo a existência desse tipo de poesia e reconhecendo esse como uma ma- nifestação emergente e importante da literatura em Libras, esse estudo analisa o processo de tradução dessa poesia para o português. Esse movimento tem como justificativa dar visibilidade para essa produção cultural da comunidade surda e investigar as suas características tendo como pano de fundo a sua tradução (VENUTI, 2006). É uma pesquisa aplicada e descritiva que teve como etapas: (i) um levantamento de obras poéticas em Libras escrita já publicadas no país; (ii) uma análise das características do gênero; (iii) a tradução desses para a língua portuguesa. A análise contou com a triangulação dos dados derivados das obras encontradas no levantamento e de entrevistas realizadas com os autores por outros pesquisadores. Buscou-se amparo na teoria haroldiana da transcriação para realizar uma tradução que se adequasse às características únicas do tipo de texto em questão; esse processo envolve uma análise do texto seguindo uma aborda- gem semiótica (CAMPOS, 2015; PIERCE, 1993). O processo tradutório foi registrado por meio de protocolos de verbalização em vídeo. A análise dos dados revela diferenças entre a poesia em Libras sinalizada registrada em vídeo e a poesia em Libras escrita perceptíveis na presença ou ausência do corpo do performer, bem como nas possibilidades de leitura de cada tipo. Esse tipo emergente de poesia se apresenta em alguns casos explorando o papel com uso de símbolos de escrita de maneira a fugir da regra padrão de composição do sinal escrito e que impossibilita a sinalização desses. Na transcriação em português dos poemas em Libras escrita, percebe-se a preocupação de tradução do signo icônico que predomina nesse tipo de texto, bem como dos ícones e símbolos que contribuem para a construção de uma iconicidade geral dos poemas, isso inclui cuidados com a tipografia.</br>

Abstract: This research investigates and discusses the translation of poetry in Libras in the written mo- dality into written Portuguese, exploring the characterization of this genre and reflecting on possible strategies for its translation. Poetry in Libras has a highly visual characteristic and is mostly conveyed in video format (SUTTON-SPENCE, 2005). With the development of studies about sign languages, some sign writing systems have been developed. Among the available systems, the most used in Brazil is SignWriting (SW), which has been used for recording liter- ary productions in sign languages (SUTTON, 2005). Recent years have seen the publication of poems in written Libras using SignWriting. Accepting the existence of this type of poetry and recognizing it as an emerging and important manifestation of literature in Libras, this study analyzes the process of its translation into Portuguese. The justification for this research is to give visibility to this cultural production of the Deaf Community and investigate its character- istics against the background of its translation (VENUTI, 2006). It is applied and descriptive research which aims to: (i) collect poems in written Libras already published in Brazil; (ii) analyse the characteristics of the genre; (iii) translate these poems into Portuguese. The analysis relied on the triangulation of data derived from works found in the collection and interviews conducted with the authors by other researchers. For a theoretical basis, we used Haroldo de Campos? theory of trans-creation to perform a translation that would suit the unique character- istics of the type of text in question; this process involves an analysis of the text following a semiotic approach (CAMPOS, 2015; PIERCE, 1993). The translation process was recorded as Think Aloud Protocols through video. The analysis of the data reveals differences between the poetry in video-recorded Libras and the poetry in written Libras, noticeably in the presence or absence of the performer's body, and in the reading possibilities of each poetry type. This emerging type of poetry is presented in some cases exploiting the page with the use of writing symbols in order to escape the standard rules of composition of the written signs, making it impossible to articulate it in signs. In the trans-creation of the poems in written Libras to Por- tuguese, we notice the concern of translation of the icons that predominate in this text type, as well as the indexes and symbols that contribute to the construction of a general iconicity of the poems, including the typography.
