A tradução de tabus linguísticos morais na legendagem e na dublagem do filme Todo Sobre Mi Madre, de Pedro Almodóvar

Abstract

Esta pesquisa objetivou analisar os procedimentos de tradução audiovisual de tabus linguísticos morais utilizados no filme Todo sobre mi madre (1999), em português brasileiro, Tudo sobre minha mãe, do diretor Pedro Almodóvar, do espanhol ao português brasileiro. Para tanto, apresenta-se uma classificação de tabus linguísticos morais assim como a proposta de análise de termos ofensivos e tabus de Ávila-Cabrera (2015). Identificaram-se as estratégias tradutórias empregadas, verificando o nível de intensidade da tradução do tabu linguístico moral mediante a carga ofensiva estabelecida no ato tradutório, analisando, assim, se houve manipulação ideológica, conforme Diaz Cintas (2018). Como referencial teórico para o desenvolvimento desta pesquisa, acerca dos Estudos da Tradução Audiovisual, fez-se uso de trabalhos de Chaume (2004a), Díaz Cintas (2001a) e Izard Martínez (2001). Para os Estudos da Legendagem, Díaz Cintas (2010) e Georgakopoulou (2009) e para os Estudos da Dublagem, Agost (1999) e Machado (2016). No que tange aos tabus linguísticos, utilizaram-se os trabalhos de Ávila-Cabrera (2014), Preti (1983) e Silva (2016). Além do referencial teórico, como metodologia para uma análise lexicográfica, optou-se pelo uso de dicionários gerais e específicos, bilíngues e monolíngues de português e espanhol. Como resultados, a classificação de tabus linguísticos morais referentes aos somatismos foi a que apresentou maior quantidade em nosso corpus. A \"substituição\" foi a estratégia de tradução com maior ocorrência na legendagem e na dublagem e a respeito do nível de intensidade da tradução do tabu, a categoria \"mantido\" obteve maior incidência em ambas as modalidades de tradução audiovisual. No filme, a manipulação ideológica foi identificada na dublagem no concernente aos tabus linguísticos morais referentes a drogas e vícios. A partir das análises aqui desenvolvidas, verificou-se que alguns tabus linguísticos morais perderam a sua conotação ofensiva/tabu, tendo em vista o contexto da cena em que foram proferidos, confirmando o fenômeno da banalização lexical discutido por Preti (1983). Dessa forma, conclui-se que, no geral, a tradução dos tabus linguísticos morais no filme foi mantida, sendo resguardados alguns momentos em que a omissão não pôde ser justificada mediante as restrições técnicas cabíveis a ambas as modalidades de tradução audiovisual.</br>

Abstract: This research aimed to analyze the most frequent procedures in the audiovisual translation of moral linguistic taboos in the movie Todo sobre mi madre (1999), in English, All about my mother, directed by Pedro Almodóvar, from the Spanish language to Brazilian Portuguese. For this purpose, a classification of moral linguistic taboos was presented, as well as a proposal to analyze offensive terms and taboos according to Ávila-Cabrera (2015). The translation strategies used were identified by checking the level of intensity of the translation of the moral linguistic taboos through the offensive load established in the translation act. Thus, it was analyzed whether there was ideological manipulation or not, based on Diaz Cintas (2018). The theoretical framework for the development of this research used various authors. Works by Chaume (2004a), Díaz Cintas (2001a) and Izard Martínez (2001) were used for Audiovisual Translation Studies. Díaz Cintas (2010) and Georgakopoulou (2009), for Subtitling Studies. For Dubbing Studies, Agost (1999) and Machado (2016). Concerning linguistic taboos, the works of Ávila-Cabrera (2014), Preti (1983) and Silva (2016) were employed. Besides the theoretical framework, as a methodology for the lexicographical analysis, it was privileged the use of general and specialized dictionaries, those being Portuguese - Spanish bilingual and monolingual dictionaries. As a result, the classification of moral linguistic taboos referring to somatisms was the one that presented the greatest amount in our corpus. The \"substitution\" category was the translation strategy with the highest occurrence in subtitling and dubbing. As for the level of intensity of the translation of the taboo, the category \"intained\" had a greater incidence in both types of audiovisual translation. In the movie, the ideological manipulation was identified in the dubbing, when regarding moral linguistic taboos related to drugs and addictions. From the analyses developed here, it was found that some moral linguistic taboos lost their offensive/taboo connotation in the translation considering the context of the scene in which they were uttered. This confirms the phenomenon of lexical trivialization discussed by Preti (1983). Thus, it is concluded that, in general, the translation of the moral linguistic taboos in the movie was maintained, safeguarding some moments in which the omission could not be justified by the technical restrictions applied to both types of audiovisual translation.</br>
