Análise da tradução intermodal de texto acadêmico do português escrito para a libras em vídeo

Abstract

Nesta tese, apresentamos o desenvolvimento de um estudo que tem como objetivo principal investigar o processo da tradução de um texto acadêmico em português escrito para a Libras em vídeo, realizado por tradutores-atores surdos e ouvintes (TASO). A partir da descrição do processo, de seus aspectos operacionais e cognitivos, apresentamos uma análise do modo como os tradutores atuam e das estratégias empregadas por eles. A abordagem segue uma pesquisa empírico-experimental qualitativa, descritiva e exploratória, sobre algumas características processuais relacionadas à tradução intermodal ? um processo de tradução envolvendo uma língua vocal-auditiva e outra gestual-visual. Para tanto, investigamos a tradução de um texto escrito em português para a Libras em vídeo, a qual foi realizada por três duplas de TASO. Para as reflexões, contamos com a contribuição teórica de autores, tais como Hurtado Albir (2005, 2011, 2020), Nicoloso (2015), Nord (2016), Rodrigues (2013, 2018), Segala (2010), Souza (2010), Stone (2009), entre outros. As ferramentas para a coleta de dados foram a filmagem da tarefa, registro da tela do computador, protocolos verbais retrospectivos, entrevistas e o texto final com a tradução em Libras. Usamos o ELAN (EUDICO Language Annotator) para a transcrição dos dados e anotações favoráveis à análise dos aspectos processuais da tradução intermodal. E para análise dos dados, contamos com categorias relacionadas à estrutura do texto fonte, aos problemas de tradução e à sua solução (NORD, 2016; HURTADO ALBIR, 2011). Concluímos com algumas contribuições significativas para se pensarem as competências tradutória, comunicativa, técnica, entre outras, no par-linguístico português-Libras com relação às questões metodológicas de coleta e análise de dados intermodais e com uma visão de como se dá o processo tradutório do português escrito para a Libras em vídeo em relação aos aspectos linguísticos e extralinguísticos vinculados às especificidades da tarefa tradutória e aos marcos culturais surdos. Por fim, evidenciam-se as estratégias empregadas na realização das tarefas e na resolução de problemas pelo TASO durante a administração do processo e a resolução dos problemas da tradução encontrados.

Abstract: In this thesis, we present the development of a study whose main objective is to investigate the process of translating an academic text written in Portuguese to Libras (Brazilian Sign Language) on video, conducted by deaf and hearing translators-actors (TASO). From the description of the process and its operational and cognitive aspects, we present an analysis of the mode the translators worked and the strategies which were employed by them. The approach follows a qualitative, descriptive and exploratory empirical-experimental research about some procedural characteristics related to intermodal translation - a translation process involving a visual-gestural and a vocal-auditory. Therefore, we investigated the translation of a written text in Portuguese to Libras on video, which was performed by three TASO pairs. For reflections, we count with the theoretical contribution of authors, such as Hurtado Albir (2005, 2017, 2020), Nicoloso (2015), Nord (2016), Rodrigues (2013, 2018), Segala (2010), Souza (2010), Stone (2009), among others. The tools for data collection were the footage of the task, record of the computer screen, retrospective verbal protocols, interviews and the final text with the translation in Libras. ELAN (EUDICO Language Annotator) was used for the transcription of data and notes favorable to the analysis? procedural aspects of intermodal translation. And for data analysis, we count categories related to the structure of the source text, translation problems and their solution (NORD, 2016; HURTADO ALBIR, 2017). We conclude with some significant contributions to think about the translational, communicative and technical competencies, among others, in the Portuguese-Libras linguistic pair in relation the methodological issues of collection and analysis of intermodal data and with a vision of how it goes the translation process of Portuguese written for Libras on video in relation to linguistic and extralinguistic aspects linked to the specifics of the translation task and to deaf cultural marks. In the end, become evident the strategies employed in realization out the tasks and of the resolution of the problems by TASO during the administration of the process and the resolution of the translation problems encountered.
