Managing urban solid waste is the great challenge faced by contemporary cities. With the objective of diagnosing the panorama of the integration of solid waste in the Metropolitan Region of Vale do Aço - RMVA, identifying the capacity to implement the reverse cycle of Household Waste, a theoretical basis survey on the subject and an exploratory basis was prepared to obtain information and data that allow for a deeper understanding of the reality of this region. Note that there is no proper management of solid waste, in the municipalities only the management of some activities that guarantee the collection and adequate provision of urban solid waste. Actions were identified with the objective of implementing environmental education and selective collection, but without expressive results. Even so, selective collection, obtaining models of technical and social feasibility, which makes the implementation of the cycle of reverse income of the circular economy with the generation of employment and sustainable acquisition. |

Gerir os resíduos sólidos urbanos é o grande desafio vivido pelas cidades contemporâneas. Para diagnosticar o panorama da gestão dos resíduos sólidos domiciliares (RDO) na Região Metropolitana do Vale do Aço (RMVA) e identificar a capacidade de implantação da economia circular a partir do ciclo reverso, foi realizado levantamento bibliográfico sobre o tema e de base exploratória para obter dados que permitisse aprofundar o conhecimento sobre a realidade desta região. Observou-se que não há gestão integrada dos RDO na RMVA, apenas o gerenciamento de algumas atividades que garantem a coleta e a disposição adequada dos RDO. Foram identificadas ações com o objetivo de implantar a educação ambiental e a coleta seletiva, mas sem resultados expressivos. Ainda assim, a coleta seletiva apresenta indícios de viabilidade técnica, econômica e social, o que torna a implantação da economia circular uma possibilidade para obter o desenvolvimento sustentável, com geração de emprego e renda. |
