Crescimento e armadilha da renda média: evidências para a economia mundial.

Abstract

O crescimento dos países é algo comum, notícias sobre o tema surgem constantemente em nosso cotidiano, mas diversos percalços podem surgir na jornada de crescimento até um país alcançar a classificação de alta renda. E o objetivo deste trabalho é i) analisar as variáveis que representam as principais dificuldades enfrentadas pelos países de renda média, ii) analisar de forma quantitativa e qualitativa como ocorrem as relações entre elas e seus efeitos na armadilha de renda média nos países selecionados e iii) realizar comparativo entre o cenário ideal para saída da armadilha de renda média e a atual posição dos países, fazendo um comparativo entre os países de maior risco e a Coreia do Sul, pois é considerado um país exemplo de sucesso nesse aspecto. Sendo assim, para a obtenção desses objetivos, foram selecionadas variáveis que se relacionam com o tema, separando os países por grupo de renda no período de 2007-2018, divido em dois grupos de seis anos, para a obtenção das médias. Foi possível obter, com êxito, fortes evidências de que a principal dificuldade que os países enfrentam é a de estruturar suas instituições, principalmente educacionais, pois o melhor cenário possível para os países de renda média, dentro do universo de variáveis e referenciais teóricos, é o de crescimento da geração de patentes, em paralelo com forte incentivo educacional em todos os graus, mas especialmente no ensino superior, pois é onde a Coreia do Sul se destacou frente ao países sob risco de ingressarem na armadilha de renda média, apresentando excelentes nível de ensino durante todo o período analisado.

The growth of countries is something common, news about the subject constantly appear in our daily lives, but several mishaps may arise in the growth journey until a country reaches the high income classification. The objective of this work is to i) analyze the variables that represent the main difficulties faced by middle-income countries, ii) analyze in a quantitative and qualitative way the relationships among them and their effects on the middle-income trap in the selected countries, and iii) make a comparison between the ideal scenario for leaving the middle-income trap and the current position of the countries, making a comparison between the countries with the highest risk and South Korea, since it is considered to be an example of success in this regard. Thus, to obtain these objectives, variables were selected that are related to the theme, separating the countries by income group in the period 2007-2018, divided into two groups of six years, to obtain the averages. It was possible to successfully obtain strong evidence that the main difficulty faced by the countries is to structure their institutions, especially their educational institutions, because the best possible scenario for middle-income countries, within the universe of variables and theoretical references, is the growth in the generation of patents, in parallel with strong educational incentives at all levels, but especially in higher education, because this is where South Korea stood out compared to countries at risk of entering the middle-income trap, presenting excellent educational levels throughout the analyzed period.
