Abstract: The objective of this work was to use vermiculite and aluminum hydroxide to produce polyurethane (PU) boards with mechanical resistance, flammability and thermal conductivity of different compositions. The plates were prepared by the polycondensation reaction between isocyanate and polyol, with the addition of aluminum hydroxide (ATH) and vermiculite. The plates showed a deceleration of combustion until the flame was extinguished in the flammability test (ABNT 9178-15) due to the presence of vermiculite and ATH. This study demonstrated that the thermal insulation capacity was increased compared to PU foam, but the compressive strength of the composites did not meet ABNT 8082, however, these results do not compromise the use of these compositions as wall coverings. The developed materials can contribute to the construction industry as a safe insulator
