dc.description.abstract It is not new to talk about investor-led building production as a contrast to common needs, though the architect is rarely mentioned as an important figure in these phenomena. Neither are the users and the community initiatives, who seek process changes, becoming therefore the link that justifies and further feeds the space-production-cycle with arguments. Architecture is widely discussed in terms of technicalities and production efficiency among its own technician circle, with little regard to its means to promote better living conditions where users, not only investors, are important drivers. The essential definition and visualization by the architects of their own profession and their role in society - hypothetically defeated - is the trigger to allow any changes in the sector to happen. pt_BR
