dc.description.abstract Through the years, people have improved the way to produce food according with their own needs. Due to the increase in urbanization and so the demand for food, Urban Agriculture emerges not only as a tool to supply this demand, but also as a Environmental Education and Sustainable Development promoter. In order to prove that hypothesis, a qualitative and exploratory bibliographic research was made. Therefore, observing the Brazilian agricultural perspective, it shows that Urban Agriculture rescues agroecological principles used before and operates effectively for the revolutionary Environmental Education. Besides, when it fulfills the economic, social and environmental orders of urban ecosystem, it improves Sustainable Development too. Finally, Urban Agriculture makes people’s quality of life better, and ensures environment preservation for future generations. pt_BR
