As novas bruxas: como feministas contavam a história (Brasil e Argentina, 1980 – 1990)

Abstract

Este trabalho tem como objetivo analisar como feministas (re)escreveram a história em jornais feministas publicados no Brasil e na Argentina, entre as décadas de 1980 e 1990. A partir de artigos e matérias sobre diferentes temas da história, encontrados nos periódicos brasileiros Chanacomchana (1981 - 1987), Mulherio (1981 - 1988) e Nzinga Informativo (1985 - 1988), e nos periódicos argentinos Brujas (1982 - 2012) e Cuadernos de Existencia Lesbiana (1987 - 1996), investigamos a importância de narrativas históricas para diferentes grupos feministas e a formação de uma consciência histórica feminista. Para tanto, estudamos individualmente as diferentes propostas editoriais e identificamos as principais narrativas sobre o passado veiculadas em cada publicação, explorando os sentidos da história no discurso feminista. As fontes foram catalogadas e sistematizadas integralmente em quadros e tabelas, e analisadas com o uso de ferramentas da análise do discurso. Histórias como a caça às bruxas, a vida da poeta Safo da Ilha de Lesbos e de mulheres negras que resistiram ao colonialismo, foram importantes para a construção de identidades feministas e a legitimação de pautas colocadas pelos movimentos feministas. Tais narrativas são geralmente acompanhadas de críticas à exclusão das mulheres na historiografia, evidenciando o efeito do gênero na escrita da história e o caráter conflituoso do contato das mulheres com as narrativas históricas. A emergência de novas narrativas sobre a história e o passado das mulheres, entendido como um passado feminista e coletivo, em um cenário de intensas mobilizações e trocas entre militantes brasileiras e argentinas, indica a formação de uma consciência histórica produzida a partir de uma perspectiva feminista. A consciência histórica feminista se forma a partir da tensão entre a experiência de exclusão das mulheres da história e a constante luta feminista. Por meio da escrita, as feministas questionavam as estruturas de poder e situavam as mulheres como sujeitas da história, compreendendo-a como um processo de luta das mulheres por direitos e contra a opressão.

Abstract: This work aims to analyze how feminists rewrote history within feminist newspapers published in Brazil and Argentina between the 1980s and the 1990s. In the format of articles about different historical themes found in Brazilian newspapers, such as Chanacomchana (1981 - 1987), Mulherio (1981 - 1988), and Nizinga Informativo (1985 - 1988), or the Argentine newspapers Brujas (1982 - 2012) and Cuadernos de Existencia Lesbiana (1987 - 1996), we investigated the significance of historical narratives for various feminist groups and their formation of consciousness about feminism. Therefore, we individually studied distinct editorial propositions, identifying their main narratives about the past and exploring the historical meaning in their feminist discourse. Our sources were categorized and systematized through charts and analyzed using Discourse Analysis. Stories such as the witch hunt, the romanticized life of Sappho from Lesbos Island, and those black women who resisted colonialism were of great importance for the configuration of feminist identities and the legitimacy of their agendas within the feminist movement. These narratives are usually accompanied by criticisms of the omission of women in historical documents, highlighting the gender effects throughout history writing and the conflictual nature of women and historical narratives. The emergence of new narratives about the past and women's history, understood as a feminist and collective past, in a scenario of heavy mobilizations and exchanges between Brazilian and Argentine feminists, can indicate the development of historical consciousness from a feminist perspective. The historical feminist consciousness was built through tension between the exclusion experiences of women throughout history and their ongoing feminist battles. Through writing, feminists were able to question the structures of power, positioning themselves as historical subjects and realizing that writing is a weapon against women's oppression.
