Mind the gap: a vacuidade e a intencionalidade na retradução de textos sensíveis

Abstract

Este trabalho objetiva aplicar o modelo de análise textual proposto por Christiane Nord aos Estudos da Tradução na análise de duas retraduções de um Texto Sensível. Considerando os contextos alvo em que se inserem as duas traduções literárias e as escolhas dos respectivos tradutores: o livro In Love with the World: A Monk's Journey Through the Bardos of Living and Dying, de Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche e Helen Tworkov (2019) foi traduzido para o português europeu com o título ?Amar o Mundo: A viagem de um monge pelos bardos da vida e da morte? (2019) e traduzido para o português brasileiro com o título ?Apaixonado Pelo Mundo: A viagem de um monge pelos bardos do viver e do morrer? (2019). Para isso, utiliza-se da perspectiva Funcionalista, que vê a tradução como uma atividade intencional específica (com vistas à superação do gap existente entre contextos culturais distintos). Visa a apresentar dessa forma, um estudo linguístico comparativo com foco na tradução de um texto sensível. Recorre assim a conceitos apontados por Christiane Nord, Roman Jakobson, Tzvetan Todorov, Eugene Nida, Hans Josef Vermeer, Katharina Reiß, Karl Simms, Thomas Hüsgen, Yves Gambier, Walter Benjamin, George Steiner, Umberto Eco, Harald Weinrich e Haroldo de Campos entre outros da área da Tradução.

Abstract: This work aims to apply the textual analysis model proposed by Christiane Nord to Translation Studies, in the analysis of two re-translations of a Sensitive Text. Considering the target contexts in which the two literary translations are inserted and the choices of the respective translators: the book In Love with the World: A Monk's Journey Through the Bardos of Living and Dying, by Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche and Helen Tworkov (2019) was translated into European Portuguese with the title ?Amar o Mundo: A viagem de um monge pelos bardos da vida e da morte? (2019) and translated into Brazilian Portuguese with the title ?Apaixonado Pelo Mundo: A viagem de um monge pelos bardos do viver e do morrer? (2019). To achieve this, the Functionalist perspective is used, which sees translation as a specific intentional activity (with a view to overcoming the gap between different cultural contexts). It aims to present, in this way, a comparative linguistic study with a focus on translation of a sensitive text. It thus uses concepts highlighted by Christiane Nord, Roman Jakobson, Tzetan Todorov, Eugene Nida, Hans Josef Vermeer, Katharina Reiß, Karl Simms, Thomas Hüsgen, Yves Gambier, Walter Benjamin, George Steiner, Umberto Eco, Harald Weinrich and Haroldo de Campos among others in the Translation field.
