A Materialidade da Religião Grega na Ilha de Delos: Estatuetas de Hera e Heraion de Delos

Abstract

Partindo de estatuetas de uma deusa entronada encontrada no Santuário de Hera na ilha de Delos, datadas do período Arcaico (séc. VII à VI a.C.), o objetivo desta pesquisa é compreender o que era religião grega e como estudar ela a partir de uma fonte material. Para tal, este trabalho considera os objetos sagrados como representações físicas da religião. O trabalho está dividido em quatro capítulos. O primeiro introduz a problemática geral e as informações básicas sobre a documentação. O segundo apresenta um panorama da história de Delos no período arcaico e do santuário de Hera. O terceiro sintetiza os debates sobre a religião grega. O quarto, finalmente, apresenta a análise da documentação.

Starting from statuettes of an enthroned goddess found in the Sanctuary of Hera on the island of Delos, dating from the Archaic period (7th to 6th centuries BC), the objective of this research is to understand what Greek religion was and how to study it from a material source. To this end, this work considers sacred objects as physical representations of religion. The work is divided into four chapters. The first introduces the general problem and basic information about the documentation. The second presents an overview of the history of Delos in the Archaic period and of the Sanctuary of Hera. The third summarizes the debates on Greek religion. The fourth, finally, presents the analysis of the documentation.
