Deslocamento do disco articular

Abstract

Este trabalho consiste numa revisão da literatura sobre o deslocamento do disco articular, que tem sido definido como uma relação anormal entre o disco e a cabeçada mandíbula e a eminência articular do temporal. O conhecimento da anatomia das estruturas da articulação temporomandibular é indispensável para entender o que acontece com o disco quando ele é deslocado, e as diversas maneiras como isso acontece também foram descritas. A etiologia do deslocamento do disco articular é multifatorial. Seu diagnóstico é feito principalmente através do exame clínico e o relacionamento dos achados deste exame com o histórico do paciente e as imagens de ressonância magnética, que é o exame de imagem mais indicado para diagnosticar esta patologia.

This work consists of a review of literature on the dislocation of the articular disc, which has been defined as an abnormal relationship between the disc and the head of the jawbone (condyle) and the temporal bone. The knowledge of the anatomy of the temporomandibular joint structures is essential for one to comprehend what happens to the disc when it is dislocated and the several ways in which this occurs have also been described. The etiology of the articular disc dislocation is multifactorial. Its diagnosis is performed mainly through clinical exam and the connection of the exam outcomes to the patient's medical record and the images obtained from the magnetic resonance imaging, which is the most appropriate imaging exam used in order to have the diagnosis of this pathology.
