Desafios da agricultura brasileira : os impactos dos agrotóxicos e as alternativas da Agroecologia

Abstract

Esta dissertação investiga os impactos do uso de agrotóxicos no Brasil, considerando suas implicações para a saúde pública, o meio ambiente e a segurança alimentar. Diante da crescente preocupação com práticas agrícolas insustentáveis, a pesquisa se baseia na experiência vivenciada durante o estágio em Serviço Social, em 2017 no Hospital Universitário da UFSC, onde a associação entre a exposição a agrotóxicos e doenças crônicas se tornou evidente. Além disso, a vivência no Movimento Sem Terra (MST) e no Movimento dos Pequenos Agricultores (MPA) destacou a importância da agroecologia como alternativa ao uso de substâncias químicas. A análise abrange a inserção do Brasil na divisão internacional do trabalho e as legislações pertinentes ao uso de agrotóxicos, buscando entender como essas questões afetam a saúde e o bem-estar das comunidades rurais. A pesquisa adota uma abordagem qualitativa e exploratória, integrando análise documental e bibliográfica para fundamentar a discussão sobre alternativas sustentáveis e a necessidade de revisão das políticas agrícolas.

Abstract: This dissertation investigates the impacts of the use of pesticides in Brazil, considering their implications for public health, the environment and food safety. Given the growing concern about unsustainable agricultural practices, the research is based on the experience during the Social Work internship in 2017 at the UFSC University Hospital, where the association between exposure to pesticides and chronic diseases became evident. Furthermore, the experience of the Landless Movement (MST) and the Small Farmers Movement (MPA) highlighted the importance of agroecology as an alternative to the use of chemical substances. The analysis covers Brazil's insertion in the international division of labor and legislation relating to the use of pesticides, seeking to understand how these issues affect the health and well-being of rural communities. The research adopts a qualitative and exploratory approach, integrating documentary and bibliographic analysis to support the discussion on sustainable alternatives and the need to review agricultural policies.
