A contribuição da geografia no debate da questão quilombola no Brasil

Abstract

A tese tem por objetivo investigar a contribuição geográfica no debate sobre as comunidades quilombolas no Brasil. Construindo, dessa forma, um panorama das pesquisas geográficas sobre as comunidades quilombolas. Pretende-se revelar as lutas políticas, evidenciando os recortes espaciais que se configuram como territórios negros no Brasil, ancorados em seus saberes, que, por sua vez, mantêm uma relação de proximidade com a natureza dos locais em que estão inseridos, pois sabem que dela necessitam para sustentar sua identidade étnica e seus modos de vida. Os quilombos se configuram numa questão que persiste há centenas de anos na luta dos afrodescendentes. Portanto, trata-se de uma luta política que remonta a história da escravidão até os dias atuais, em que ganha novas dimensões e definições. Com a investigação das teses e dissertações disponíveis nas plataformas Capes e do Banco de Teses e Dissertações foi possível traçar as diversas abordagens que as pesquisas geográficas da questão quilombola estão direcionando em suas produções. É evidente que há um despertar dentro dos estudos geográficos sobre o tema das populações quilombolas e seus territórios, pois houve a necessidade de elaborar o espaço geográfico brasileiro a partir de populações tradicionais, no foco dessa pesquisa os quilombolas, uma vez que seus territórios seguem em constantes processos de demarcação e/ou de oficialização pelo Estado brasileiro, já que essas populações foram beneficiadas pela luta do Movimento Negro Unificado nos anos de 1970 e de 1980, conquistando direitos específicos às suas identidades étnicas, do que emergiram, dessa forma, milhares de populações quilombolas e territórios étnicos em quase todas as unidades da federação brasileira. Sendo assim, atualmente, os quilombos representam a organização social que luta por territórios mantidos através de gerações.

Abstract: The thesis aims to investigate the geographical contribution to the debate on quilombola communities in Brazil. In this way, it builds an overview of geographical research on quilombola communities. The aim is to reveal the political struggles, highlighting the spatial cuts that are configured as black territories in Brazil, anchored in their knowledge, which, in turn, maintain a close relationship with the nature of the places where they are located, as they know that they need it to sustain their ethnic identity and their ways of life. Quilombos are configured in an issue that has persisted for hundreds of years in the struggle of Afro- descendants. Therefore, it is a political struggle that dates back to the history of slavery to the present day, in which it gains new dimensions and definitions. By investigating the theses and dissertations available on the Capes and the Thesis and Dissertation Bank platforms, it was possible to outline the different approaches that geographical research on the quilombola issue is directing in its productions. It is clear that there is an awakening within geographical studies on the subject of quilombola populations and their territories, as there was a need to elaborate the Brazilian geographic space based on traditional populations, the focus of this research being the quilombolas, since their territories are constantly undergoing processes of demarcation and/or officialization by the Brazilian State, since these populations benefited from the struggle of the Unified Black Movement in the 1970s and 1980s, winning specific rights to their ethnic identities, from which emerged, in this way, thousands of quilombola populations and ethnic territories in almost all units of the Brazilian federation. Thus, currently, quilombos represent the social organization that fights for territories maintained through generations.
