O discurso avaliativo de um público ouvido sobre a interpretação de uma performance do Palhaço Surdo à luz do Sistema Avaliatividade

Abstract

A presente pesquisa concentra-se na área dos Estudos da Interpretação e apresenta uma proposta de estudo sobre a dramaturgia de palhaço surdo como parte do teatro surdo. Tem como objetivo investigar a avaliação da audiência ouvinte sobre o serviço de interpretação voz em uma performance teatral de um palhaço surdo. A pesquisa segue os princípios da base teórica e metodológica da Linguística Sistêmico Funcional de Halliday (2004, 2014), especificamente à metafunção interpessoal, identificando o tipo de avaliação que emerge da audiência ouvinte com base no Sistema de Avaliatividade (Martin; White, 2005), exclusivamente o subsistema Atitude. Nos Estudos da Interpretação, dialogamos com Pöchhacker (2015), Pagura (2003), Lourenço (2015, 2018); sobre Literatura e cultura surda, Stone (2009), Sutton Spence e Quadros (2014), Sutton-Spence (2021); sobre modalidades de línguas, Quadros e Segala (2015) e Rodrigues (2018a, 2018b). A pesquisa é de natureza descritiva e explicativa de abordagem qualitativa. Como instrumentos de coleta de dados, fizemos uso de questionário estruturado para identificação do perfil e entrevista com a audiência ouvinte. Como resultado, a audiência ouvinte avaliou que o serviço de interpretação voz contribui para a compreensão do público ouvinte que não domina a Libras. Destacaram positivamente a entonação da voz, as pausas na fala, a reorganização das informações, a clareza nas escolhas lexicais da intérprete, o uso do tempo para a audiência refletir sobre as cenas, entre outros aspectos. Os principais fatores que influenciaram a audiência ouvinte foi a forma como se realizou a entonação (sem monotonia), a simultaneidade entre a performance e a interpretação voz, sem pausas longas ou quebras bruscas na interpretação. Além disso, observaram que a interpretação deve ser um complemento da performance e não o todo. As dimensões do subsistema Atitude, Afeto, Julgamento e Apreciação foram categorizadas considerando tanto manifestações positivas quanto negativas. Nesta pesquisa, identificamos apenas uma avaliação da categoria Afeto. Houve muito Julgamento por estima social ? que abrange normalidade, capacidade e tenacidade, do que a sanção social, que envolve veracidade e propriedade. A categoria Apreciação apresentou bastante ocorrência. A pesquisa evidenciou que a experiência da audiência ouvinte diante de uma performance teatral em Libras mediada por intérprete voz pode gerar diferentes percepções e emoções, sendo crucial compreender os julgamentos formulados, que englobam desde a admiração e a valorização até a crítica.

Abstract: The following research is situated within the area of Interpreting Studies and presents a proposal for a study about the playwriting of a Deaf clown as part of the Deaf Theater. Our objective is to investigate the hearing audience?s evaluation about the voice interpreting in a Theatrical Performance of a Deaf clown. This research follows the theoretical and methodological framework of Systemic Functional Linguistics, developed by Halliday (2004, 2014), specifically the Interpersonal Metafunction, identifying the type of evaluation that comes from the hearing audience based on the Appraisal System (Martin; White, 2005), exclusively the subsystem Attitude. We are also based on the following theoretical framework: within Interpreting Studies, Pöchhacker (2015), Pagura (2003), Lourenço (2015, 2018); within Deaf Culture and Literature, Stone (2009), Sutton-Spence and Quadros (2014), Sutton-Spence (2021); within languages modalities, Quadros and Segala (2015), Rodrigues (2018a, 2018b). This research is descriptive and explanatory, following a qualitative approach. Our data collection instruments were the use of a structured questionnaire to identify profile and interviews with the hearing audience. As a result, the hearing audience evaluated that the voice interpreting service contributes to the comprehension of the hearing public that is not fluent in Libras. They have positively reacted to voice intonation, pauses in the speech, the reorganization of information, the clarity in the interpreter?s lexical choices, the use of time for the audience to reflect about the scenes, amongst other aspects. The main factors that have influenced the hearing audience was the way the intonation was uttered (without monotony), the simultaneity between the performance and the voice interpreting, without long pauses or abrupt breaks in the interpreting rhythm, and furthermore they have observed that the interpreting should complement the performance, not constitute it entirely. The dimensions of the subsystem Attitude, Affect, Judgment and Appreciation were categorized, considering both the positive and negative manifestations. In this research we have identified only one evaluation in the Affect category. There was a lot of Judgment based on social esteem ? which encompasses normality, capacity, and tenacity, rather than social sanction, which involves veracity and propriety. The Appreciation category has presented many occurrences. This research has highlighted that the hearing audience?s experience in a Theatrical Performance in Libras mediated by voice interpreting can generate different perceptions and emotions, and it is crucial to understand the judgments that are made, which range from admiration and valorization to criticism.
