Title: | Erosão dental do diagnóstico ao tratamento |
Author: | Santana, Paula Lais Santos |
Abstract: |
Dental erosion has become a growing concern in modern dentistry, posing a considerable challenge to maintaining oral health. It is characterized by the progressive and irreversible loss of dental tissue due to chemical actions, without bacterial involvement. The role of the dentist is essential both in the early identification of this condition and in the implementation of effective strategies to minimize damage to the dental structure, thereby promoting better quality of life and oral health for patients. This study aims to address the main aspects related to dental erosion, from its etiological factors — which may be intrinsic, such as gastrointestinal disorders, or extrinsic, such as the frequent consumption of acidic foods — to its clinical implications. This complexity can hinder accurate diagnosis and proper management, making the early recognition of clinical signs and the differentiation of erosion from other forms of tooth wear essential. In addition, this study aims to discuss the main aspects of dental erosion, including its causes, clinical manifestations, diagnosis, and preventive approaches/Dental erosion has become a growing concern in modern dentistry, posing a considerable challenge to maintaining oral health.
