Maternidade, violência obstétrica e ativismos feministas: uma etnografia da associação espanhola El Parto es Nuestro

Abstract

Esta tese tem como objetivo compreender como práticas e experiências obstétricas passaram a ser reconhecidas como \"violência obstétrica\" e, a partir disso, mobilizaram ativismo político entre as mulheres da associação feminista \"El Parto es Nuestro\", na Espanha. A pesquisa teve como método a etnografia, análise documental e entrevistas semiestruturadas, fundamentada a partir da antropologia feminista, para analisar como a maternidade se converte em uma causa política e coletiva, especialmente na luta por melhores condições de atenção durante a gravidez, parto e pós-parto. A investigação analisa como as demandas das mulheres da associação se articulam com os ideais feministas, sobretudo, na defesa dos direitos sexuais e reprodutivos. O estudo revela que a politização da maternidade, enquanto fenômeno social e político, desempenha um papel central no ativismo das mulheres, que transformam suas experiências de sofrimento obstétrico em uma luta por reconhecimento e por mudanças na cena obstétrica. A pesquisa contribui para o debate sobre a interseção entre maternidade, feminismo e direitos humanos, enfatizando a importância da luta por justiça reprodutiva na construção de novos marcos de direitos e na promoção de práticas obstétricas mais respeitosas e humanizadas. Abstract: This thesis aims to understand how obstetric practices and experiences came to be recognized as \"obstetric violence\" and, from that point, mobilized political activism among the women of the feminist association \"El Parto es Nuestro\" in Spain. The research employs ethnography, document analysis, and semi-structured interviews, grounding the study in feminist anthropology, to analyze how motherhood becomes a political and collective cause, particularly in the struggle for better care during pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum. The investigation examines how the demands of the association's women align with feminist ideals, especially in the defense of sexual and reproductive rights. The study reveals that the politicization of motherhood, as a social and political phenomenon, plays a central role in the activism of these women, who turn their experiences of obstetric suffering into a fight for recognition and for changes in obstetric care. The research contributes to the debate on the intersection of motherhood, feminism, and human rights, emphasizing the importance of the struggle for reproductive justice in the construction of new legal frameworks and the promotion of more respectful and humane obstetric practices.
