Buscar nos escritos as imagens perdidas

Abstract

Ramón de Baños e as pesquisas de arquivo em busca de uma filmografia materialmente perdida, porém perpetuada pela palavra. A narrativa autobiográfica sobre sua saída de Barcelona para fazer cinema na Amazônia no período da belle époque tem como tema principal as películas de actualidad feitas em Belém do Pará e os documentários no interior da floresta amazônica em busca de seringais. As filmagens realizadas de 1911 a 1913 não perduraram com o tempo. Mas sua história ficou narrada no datiloscrito inédito Notas íntimas de um cameraman español , posteriormente traduzido e publicado como Un pioner del cinema catalá a l´Amazònia . A leitura de ambos, cujo comparativo é o mote deste trabalho, permite conhecer um pouco mais da história da transição dos séculos XIX e XX e sua modernidade advinda da pujança do Ciclo da Borracha sob o olhar do estrangeiro. Observar as formas pelas quais o autor se apresenta/revela pela redação de suas memórias, e em busca também de outros escritos que as subsidiam, como as centenas de cartas enviadas do Brasil à noiva que ficara à sua espera na Espanha por quase três anos.

Abstract : Ramón de Baños, and the research on archives looking for a materially lost filmography, which lived on, however, through words. The autobiographical narrative about his departure from Barcelona to make movies in the Amazon rainforest during the Belle Époque has as its main theme the películas de actualidad made in Belém, in the state of Pará, and the documentaries inside the Amazon Forest in search of seringais. The shooting from 1911 to 1913 did not resist over time, but his journey was narrated in the unreleased report Notas íntimas de um cameraman español , subsequently translated and published as Un pioner del cinema catalá a l Amazònia . The reading of both, which are compared in the present work, allows us to know more about the history of the transition between the 19th and 20th centuries and its modernity that came with the power of the Rubber Cycle from the point of view of the foreigner. Observing the ways that the author introduces / reveals himself in writing his memories, and in search of other writings that subsidize them, such as the hundreds of letters sent from Brazil to his bride that was waiting for him in Spain for almost three years.
