Entre tempos e sujeitos: um breve estudo sobre a infância e educação no Brasil

Abstract

O objetivo do presente trabalho é analisar e demonstrar a relação entre a percepção de infância ao longo da história e o desenvolvimento da educação escolar no Ocidente, especialmente no Brasil. Para isso, fiz a revisão bibliográfica de obras já consolidadas que exploram a temática da história social da infância no contexto brasileiro. Meu estudo busca retratar o processo de diferenciação das idades das crianças e o surgimento do conceito de infância e a relação com a criação de uma instituição que abarcasse as demandas sociais referentes às crianças, tais como, controle, educação e assistência. A educação surge nos diferentes contextos históricos e sociais acompanhando a visão que se tinha a respeito da criança e servindo aos interesses de figuras que exerciam poder sobre a sociedade. No Brasil, a educação e a infância seguem trilhando seus caminhos, numa concepção de criar possibilidades para o desenvolvimento e futuro das crianças.

The present study aims to analyze and demonstrate the relationship between the perception of childhood throughout history and the development of school education in the Western world, especially in Brazil. To achieve this, I conducted a bibliographic review of well-established works that explore the theme of the social history of childhood within the Brazilian context. My study seeks to portray the process of age distinction among children, the emergence of the concept of childhood, and its relation to the creation of institutions designed to meet social demands related to children, such as control, education, and assistance. Education has emerged in different historical and social contexts, reflecting prevailing perceptions about children and serving the interests of those in positions of power. In Brazil, education and childhood continue to evolve together, guided by the aim of creating new possibilities for children's development and future.
