Bibliotecas Comunitárias e sua contribuição para redução das desigualdades no Brasil.

Abstract

No panorama das tipologias estudadas na graduação, as bibliotecas comunitárias se distinguem significativamente por sua origem peculiar, modelo de gestão e notável impacto nas comunidades. Este artigo, visa aprofundar o entendimento sobre como essas bibliotecas nascem, se mantêm e quais os efeitos que promovem, com foco especial em sua capacidade de contribuir para a redução das desigualdades no contexto brasileiro. Para tal, empreendeu-se um levantamento bibliográfico, consultando obras de autores relevantes na temática, a fim de analisar os serviços oferecidos e os impactos alcançados por essas bibliotecas. Assim, busca-se demonstrar a relevância dessas instituições como agentes de transformação social e democratização do acesso à informação no Brasil.

Within the spectrum of typologies examined during undergraduate studies, community libraries stand out due to their unique origins, distinct management models, and significant impact on the communities they serve. This article aims to deepen the understanding of how these libraries are established, sustained, and the effects they generate, with particular emphasis on their potential to contribute to the reduction of inequalities in the Brazilian context. To explore this phenomenon, a bibliographic review was conducted, drawing on works by key authors in the field, in order to analyze the services offered by these libraries and the impacts they achieve. This study therefore seeks to highlight the relevance of these institutions as agents of social transformation and as instruments for democratizing access to information in Brazil.
