O papel da escuta na práxis da Educação Popular com jovens de comunidades periféricas em Florianópolis/SC

Abstract

Esta dissertação investiga o papel da escuta na práxis da Educação Popular com jovens de comunidades periféricas em Florianópolis/SC. O estudo busca responder à questão: qual é a relevância da escuta na práxis da Educação Popular e no diálogo transformador com essa juventude? O objetivo geral é compreender o papel da escuta nesse contexto, visando a emancipação social e a construção coletiva do conhecimento. A pesquisa adota uma abordagem qualitativa e participativa, utilizando a análise de falas significativas como método central. Os contextos empíricos foram o CEDEP (Centro de Educação Popular) e o Projeto Integrar, instituições que promovem a formação crítica e emancipatória. Os resultados apontam que a escuta, entendida como um ato intencional e político, transcende o ouvir fisiológico e se configura como uma exigência do diálogo freireano. A prática da escuta favorece o senso de pertencimento, a valorização das experiências individuais e coletivas e a problematização das realidades sociais, ela torna-se mediadora do planejamento coletivo, contribuindo para a identificação dos temas geradores, para a redução temática e para a articulação entre saberes populares e conhecimentos científicos. Conclui-se que a escuta constitui um dos pilares da Educação Popular, pois possibilita a construção de práticas pedagógicas contextualizadas, dialógicas e comprometidas com a humanização. Ao reconhecer e legitimar as vozes dos jovens, a escuta fortalece processos de autonomia, criticidade e protagonismo, reafirmando seu papel como instrumento político-pedagógico essencial na construção de uma práxis ético-crítica transformadora.

Abstract: This dissertation investigates the role of listening in the practice of Popular Education with young people from peripheral communities in Florianópolis/SC. The study seeks to answer the question: what is the relevance of listening in the practice of Popular Education and in transformative dialogue with this youth? The overall goal is to understand the role of listening in this context, aiming at social emancipation and the collective construction of knowledge. The research adopts a qualitative and participatory approach, using the analysis of meaningful speech as the central method. The empirical contexts were CEDEP (Center for Popular Education) and the Integrar Project, institutions that promote critical and emancipatory education. The results indicate that listening, understood as an intentional and political act, transcends physiological hearing and is configured as a requirement of Freirean dialogue. The practice of listening fosters a sense of belonging, the appreciation of individual and collective experiences, and the problematization of social realities. It becomes a mediator of collective planning, contributing to the identification of generating themes, thematic reduction, and the articulation between popular knowledge and scientific knowledge. It can be concluded that listening is one of the pillars of Popular Education, as it enables the construction of contextualized, dialogical pedagogical practices committed to humanization. By recognizing and legitimizing the voices of young people, listening strengthens processes of autonomy, critical thinking, and empowerment, reaffirming its role as an essential political- pedagogical instrument in the construction of a transformative ethical-critical praxis.
