Eram do sexo masculino 65,40% (n=70).

children were admitted to the HIJG oncology ward. PN was indicated for 85 patients in 107
episodes (3.57%). Median age was 5 years 10 months 29 days. 65.40% were male (n=70). 57 patients (53.30%) were from Grande Florianópolis. Indications for PN: mucositis (40.20%), typhlitis or colitis (28.00%), paralytic ileus (11.20%), intestinal obstruction (4.70%) and incoercible vomiting (4.70%). Median time on PN use: 7 days (IQR 3.0-10.0). Types of neoplasia: leukemia 52.30%, lymphomas 17.80%, central nervous system tumors 8.40%. At the beginning of PN, according to the BMI Z score, 64.10% (41) were eutrophic, 20.30% (13) were <-2 and 9.40% (6) were >+2. Among patients with EZ BMI < -2, 68.2% received PN for more than 7 days. Within 72 hours after starting PN, in relation to the estimated energy need (NEE) by the World Health Organization (WHO), 26.20% reached between 26-50%; 50% reached
between 51 and 75% and 23.7% reached more than 75% and no patient reached 100%. Conclusion: Most patients were eutrophic at the beginning of PN, but patients with thinness and extreme thinness had longer duration of PN. Most patients achieved at least 50% of NEE-
OMS within 72 hours of starting PN. |
